Course Overview

Gongju and Buyeo served as the second and third capitals of the Baekje Kingdom. This course follows the Geum River from Gongsanseong Fortress through King Muryeong's Royal Tomb and the National Gongju Museum, then continues to Buyeo's Gungnammji Pond, Jeongnimsa Temple Site, and Busosanseong Fortress.

This efficient route covers the core sites of the Baekje Historic Areas, inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2015, all in a single day. Cherry blossoms in spring and autumn foliage along the riverside road add seasonal beauty.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Gongsanseong to King Muryeong's Tomb (approx. 5 km)

After viewing the fortress walls embraced by the Geum River, head to King Muryeong's Royal Tomb, the only Baekje royal tomb whose occupant has been identified since its 1971 excavation.

Section 2: National Gongju Museum to Gyeryongsan Gapsa (approx. 20 km)

View artifacts from the royal tomb at the museum, then detour toward Gapsa Temple on Mt. Gyeryong for spectacular autumn ginkgo tree-lined roads.

Section 3: Buyeo Gungnammji to Busosanseong (approx. 20 km)

Enter Buyeo to visit Gungnammji, the Baekje royal garden pond, and the five-story stone pagoda at Jeongnimsa, finishing at Busosanseong overlooking the Baengma River.
