Course Overview

Hongseong is a town of loyal patriots, birthplace of independence fighters Kim Jwa-jin and Han Yong-un. Hongjuseong served as the Chungcheong provincial military headquarters during the Joseon Dynasty.

Yongbongsan (381m) earns the nickname "Chungnam's Geumgangsan" for its dramatic rock formations. Hongseong Hanwoo is a nationally renowned beef brand, best sampled at the Hanwoo alley in town.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Hongjuseong History Park (approx. 5 km)

Walk along the restored fortress walls, visiting Joyangmun Gate and Anhoedang Hall.

Section 2: Hongjuseong to Yongbongsan (approx. 10 km)

Leave town toward Yongbongsan. The cherry blossom approach road is beautiful.

Section 3: Yongbongsan Walk (approx. 7 km)

Enjoy dramatic rock formations during a light walk from the Yongbongsan parking area.
