Course Overview
Donghae City uniquely positions Dutasan Mureung Valley to the west and Chuam Beach to the east within just 25 km, allowing both mountain and ocean enjoyment in a single course. Start at Mureung Valley, cut through the city, and finish watching the sunrise at Chuam Candlestick Rock.
Mureung Valley, between Dutasan and Cheongoksan mountains, offers healing just by sitting on the massive Mureung Flat Rock. Chuam Candlestick Rock is a dramatic rock formation rising from the sea, famous as a sunrise spot.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Mureung Valley (approx. 5 km)
Trek from the parking lot through Mureung Flat Rock and Samhwasa Temple to Yongchu Waterfall. A pre-drive walk is recommended.
Section 2: Mureung Valley to Donghae City (approx. 10 km)
Exit the valley toward downtown Donghae. Try sashimi at Mukho Port or enjoy ocean views from Mukho Lighthouse.
Section 3: Donghae City to Chuam Candlestick Rock (approx. 10 km)
The Candlestick Rock at Chuam Beach is most beautiful at dawn sunrise. The view from Sunrise Park is spectacular.
Driving Tips
- Mureung Valley admission: 2,000 KRW for adults
- Visit Mukho Port fish market in the morning for best selection
- Chuam sunrise is around 7:30 AM near the winter solstice
- Mureung Valley trek to Yongchu Waterfall is about 2 hours round trip
