Course Overview
A 35 km course connecting Samcheok's coastline to its inland caves. View the unique sculptures at Haesindang Park, then explore the underground world of Hwanseon Cave in the Daei-ri cave area.
Hwanseon Cave is Korea's largest limestone cave, with about 1.6 km of its total 6.2 km length open for viewing. The stalactites, stalagmites, and columns inside are overwhelmingly grand.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Haesindang Park (approx. 5 km)
A unique phallic sculpture park reflecting folk beliefs related to fishing.
Section 2: Haesindang to Hwanseon Cave (approx. 25 km)
Leave the coast and head inland to the Daei-ri cave area.
Section 3: Hwanseon Cave Tour (approx. 5 km)
Take the monorail to the cave entrance. Interior tour takes about 1.5 hours.
Driving Tips
- Haesindang Park admission: 3,000 KRW
- Hwanseon Cave admission: 5,000 KRW (monorail separate)
- Cave interior is 10-14 degrees; jacket required
- Wear comfortable shoes as paths can be slippery
