Course Overview
Yanggu, located at the exact center of the Korean Peninsula, features a unique terrain called the "Punch Bowl" (Haean Basin). This approximately 35 km course from Yanggu-eup to Dutayeon and Eulji Observatory offers pristine DMZ nature and security experiences.
Dutayeon is a deep gorge pool formed by Suipcheon Stream, with virgin forest preserved thanks to civilian access restrictions. From Eulji Observatory, visitors can see the entire Punch Bowl and North Korean territory.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Yanggu-eup to Yanggu Prehistory Museum (approx. 8 km)
Start from Yanggu-eup to visit the museum displaying prehistoric artifacts.
Section 2: Prehistory Museum to Dutayeon (approx. 12 km)
Head north along Route 31. Dutayeon requires advance permission as a restricted area.
Section 3: Dutayeon to Eulji Observatory (approx. 15 km)
Cross through the Punch Bowl area to reach Eulji Observatory. Experience the reality of Korean division.
Driving Tips
- Advance reservation required for Dutayeon (Yanggu County Tourism Office)
