Course Overview
This route runs along Gijang-gun's coast starting from the seaside Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, through Daebyeon Port, to Ilgwang and Imrang beaches. Gijang's coast is packed with ocean-view cafes, earning it the title of "cafe drive paradise."
Haedong Yonggungsa, built on sea cliffs, is especially beautiful at sunrise. Daebyeon Port serves Gijang's famous anchovy sashimi, and the Ilgwang-Imrang coastal road offers refreshing open ocean views.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Haedong Yonggungsa to Daebyeon Port (approx. 8 km)
Start at the seaside temple. Sample Gijang's anchovy sashimi and anchovy ssambap at Daebyeon Port.
Section 2: Daebyeon Port to Ilgwang Beach (approx. 10 km)
Drive the coastal road, stopping at ocean-view cafes. Ilgwang Beach's wide white sands are refreshing.
Section 3: Ilgwang to Imrang Beach (approx. 7 km)
The final stretch of coastal road to Imrang Beach. End with the sound of waves.
Driving Tips
- Haedong Yonggungsa parking (3,000 KRW), 10-minute walk to temple
- Best anchovy seasons: spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November)
- Coastal cafes are very crowded on weekends; weekday visits recommended
- Can combine with Osiria Theme Park (Lotte World Busan)
