Course Overview
The Hadong Sipri Cherry Blossom Road features about 1,100 cherry trees aged 50 to 100 years creating a white flower tunnel along the 6 km stretch from Hwagae Market to Ssanggyesa Temple entrance. Where the Seomjin River meets Hwagae Stream is regarded as Korea's most beautiful cherry blossom drive.
Following National Route 19 along the Seomjin River, cherry petals drift in through open windows with the river breeze. Enjoy local delicacies like marsh clam soup at Hwagae Market, then visit the Hadong tea fields for a perfect spring outing.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Hadong Town to Hwagae Market (approx. 10 km)
Drive along National Route 19 beside the Seomjin River with Jirisan foothills on the left. Stop at Pyeongsari Park to explore the setting of Park Kyong-ri's novel "Toji."
Section 2: Hwagae Market to Ssanggyesa (approx. 6 km)
The core section where cherry branches from both sides meet over the road, forming a perfect flower tunnel. Legend says couples who walk this path together will stay together for a hundred years, hence the name "Wedding Road."
Section 3: Ssanggyesa to Hadong Tea Fields (approx. 6 km)
Continue from Ssanggyesa to the Hwagae-myeon tea plantations. The contrast between green tea fields and cherry blossoms is stunning.
