Course Overview
This approximately 55 km sea drive crosses the 33.9 km Saemangeum seawall then loops through the bridge-connected islands of Gogunsan archipelago including Sinsi-do, Munyeo-do, Seonyu-do, and Jangja-do.
Seonyu-do Beach is considered one of the most beautiful on the West Coast. The Jangja-do observatory on Daejangbong offers panoramic views of the entire archipelago.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Saemangeum Seawall (approx. 34 km)
A straight road with open sea on both sides. The sunset views from the seawall are magnificent.
Section 2: Sinsi-do to Seonyu-do (approx. 10 km)
Cross the Gogunsan Bridge to enter the islands. Pass through the quiet fishing village of Munyeo-do to Seonyu-do Beach.
Section 3: Seonyu-do to Jangja-do (approx. 11 km)
A suspension bridge connects the two islands. Climb Daejangbong on Jangja-do for a panoramic view of the archipelago.
Driving Tips
- No rest stops on the seawall; check fuel before departing
- Island roads are narrow two-lane; drive slowly
- Accommodations and restaurants cluster around Seonyu-do Beach
- Expect traffic on weekends heading to the islands
