Course Overview
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, built by King Jeongjo in memory of his father Crown Prince Sado, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Korea's premier historic landmarks. This 18 km course circles the fortress walls by road before continuing to Gwanggyo Lake Park in the new town district.
Cherry blossoms grace the Paldalmun to Hwaseomun section in spring. Gwanggyo Lake Park is an urban artificial lake with well-maintained walking and cycling paths for a relaxing stroll after the drive.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Janganmun to Paldalmun (approx. 5 km)
Drive along the fortress wall from the north gate to the south gate.
Section 2: Paldalmun to Suwon World Cup Stadium (approx. 6 km)
Through Suwon's city center toward Gwanggyo.
Section 3: World Cup Stadium to Gwanggyo Lake Park (approx. 7 km)
End leisurely at the lake park beneath Gwanggyo Mountain.
Driving Tips
- Parking near Hwaseong: Janganmun public lot (1,000 KRW/hour)
- Paldalmun Market is famous for sundae and fried chicken
- Gwanggyo Lake Park has free parking but fills up fast on weekends
- Hwaseong night illumination (sunset to 10 PM) is recommended
