Course Overview

The Hantan River in Yeoncheon is Korea's only basalt canyon designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark. This 30 km course follows the columnar joints from Jaein Waterfall to Jwasang Rock and Eundae-ri tabular joints.

Basalt columnar joints formed by volcanic eruptions approximately 500,000 years ago create a geologically significant canyon. Summer offers river rafting connections, while autumn foliage along the canyon is spectacular.
