Course Overview

Misiryeong Pass (826 m) connects Inje's Buk-myeon and Goseong-gun, dividing inner and outer Seoraksan. After the Misiryeong Tunnel opened, reduced traffic turned this twisting mountain road into a mecca for driving enthusiasts.

Climbing the serpentine road reveals the deep mountain scenery of inner Seoraksan, with views of Sokcho city, the East Sea, and the imposing Ulsanbawi Rock from the summit.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Inje Yongdaeri to Mid-Misiryeong (approx. 10 km)

Beginning the ascent from Yongdaeri through valleys and conifer forests with rapidly rising elevation.

Section 2: Mid-Misiryeong to Summit (approx. 8 km)

The core winding section with continuous hairpin curves. Deep inner Seoraksan views unfold, and fog can create a cloud-driving experience.

Section 3: Summit to Sokcho Direction (approx. 7 km)

Descending toward Sokcho with the East Sea and city entering view. Best views of Ulsanbawi Rock's imposing cliffs.

Driving Tips

  • Fog is very frequent; fog lights and headlights are essential
