Course Overview
Tongyeong, called "Korea's Naples," produces 70% of the nation's oysters and is filled with unique foods like Chungmu gimbap, seafood ttukbaegi stew, and kkul-ppang (honey bread).
This 25 km drive starts from Seoho Market, passes Dongpirang Mural Village and Gangguan, and follows the Mireukdo coast to visit Tongyeong's signature eateries.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Seoho Market to Dongpirang (approx. 5 km)
Taste Chungmu gimbap and kkul-ppang at Seoho Market, then head to Dongpirang Mural Village for harbor views from the hilltop murals.
Section 2: Gangguan to Jungang Market (approx. 8 km)
Walk the Gangguan waterfront, then explore Jungang Market for seafood stew, sea squirt bibimbap, and assorted jeotgal (fermented seafood).
Section 3: Mireukdo Coastal Drive and Oyster BBQ (approx. 12 km)
Cross Tongyeong Bridge to Mireukdo's coastal road. Visit Dara Park viewpoint for Hallyeosudo island views, then feast on Tongyeong oysters at a seaside BBQ restaurant.
Driving Tips
- Winter (December to February) is peak oyster season
- For authentic Chungmu gimbap, try "Ttungbo Sikdang" at Seoho Market
