Course Overview
The Donggang area in Yeongwol is called Korea's last pristine landscape, with unpaved roads following the riverside. Emerald waters, towering cliffs, and primeval forests create a spectacular backdrop for an SUV adventure.
This 15 km drive follows unpaved Donggang riverside roads from Yeongwol town to Eorayeon, designated Scenic Site No. 14.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Yeongwol Town to Donggang Access (approx. 5 km)
Heading from town toward the Donggang where paved road gives way to unpaved riverside trails.
Section 2: Donggang Unpaved Section (approx. 7 km)
The core off-road section alongside emerald Donggang waters with cliffs and primeval forests. Rafting launch points dot the route.
Section 3: Eorayeon Viewpoint (approx. 3 km)
Scenic Site No. 14 where the Donggang curves in a dramatic S-shape, visible from the viewpoint above.
Driving Tips
- SUV recommended (some unpaved and gravel sections)
- Some sections may flood during the rainy season (July-August)
- Allow 30 minutes on foot to Eorayeon viewpoint
- Combine with Donggang rafting for a full-day trip
