Course Overview

The Chungju Lake Waterfront Drive follows Route 36 from downtown Chungju to Suanbo Hot Springs over approximately 45 km. Chungju Lake, formed by Korea's largest multi-purpose dam, offers magnificent views of water and mountains.

Starting from the historic Tangeumdae, the route passes Jungangtap Historic Park before heading northeast along the lake through peaceful lakeside villages. The classic finale is soaking in Suanbo's 53-degree hot springs.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Tangeumdae to Jungangtap (approx. 12 km)

Depart from Tangeumdae, a scenic site where the ancient musician Ureuk is said to have played the gayageum. Jungangtap is a national treasure-class seven-story stone pagoda by the Namhan River.

Section 2: Jungangtap to Chungju Dam (approx. 15 km)

Chungju Lake gradually reveals itself along Route 36. The dam observatory offers views of the massive dam structure and lake.

Section 3: Chungju Dam to Suanbo Hot Springs (approx. 18 km)

Mountain roads lead to Suanbo Hot Springs village, where you can soak in 53-degree alkaline spring water.
