Course Overview
This 18 km family outing follows peaceful rural roads through Eumseong County. Gamgok's Maegoe Seonmo Pilgrimage Site preserves early Korean Catholic history with an impressive French-style stone church.
Sureuisan (530 m) sits on the border of Eumseong and Chungju, offering panoramic views of Chungbuk's inland plains. Eumseong is the birthplace of Korean gochujang (red pepper paste), with hands-on making experiences available.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Gamgok-myeon to Maegoe Pilgrimage Site (approx. 5 km)
Visit the serene Catholic shrine with its distinctive stone church and pilgrimage path.
Section 2: Pilgrimage Site to Gochujang Village (approx. 6 km)
Try making traditional gochujang at the Eumseong Gochujang Experience Village.
Section 3: Gochujang Village to Sureuisan (approx. 7 km)
Drive to the trailhead for a light hike. Summit takes about 1 hour.
