Course Overview

The Goesan Sanmaki Old Trail Lake Drive follows Dalcheonho (Goesan Lake) through Chilseong-myeon for approximately 25 km. Listed among Korea's Top 100 Tourism Attractions, the Sanmaki Old Trail is a 3.9 km lakeside trek perfect for combining driving with walking.

The Yeonhahyeop Cloud Bridge is a 134 m suspension bridge offering stunning views of the lake flanked by mountains. Goesan is one of Chungbuk's quietest and best-preserved natural areas.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Goesan-eup to Chilseong-myeon (approx. 10 km)

Heading south on Route 34, the lake gradually appears alongside apple orchards and pepper fields typical of rural Chungbuk.

Section 2: Chilseong-myeon to Sanmaki Old Trail Parking (approx. 8 km)

Drive with the lake on your right. Park at the Sanmaki Old Trail lot for trekking.

Section 3: Sanmaki Old Trail to Yeonhahyeop Cloud Bridge (approx. 7 km)

Crossing the Yeonhahyeop Cloud Bridge over the lake is the highlight, connecting to the Chungcheong Yangban Trail.

Driving Tips

  • Sanmaki Old Trail parking: Compact 3,000 KRW, Large 7,000 KRW
  • Round trip on the old trail takes about 2 hours
  • A cruise boat can take you one-way to the trail's end
  • Best in spring (April-May) for fresh green and autumn (October) for foliage
