Course Overview

Mt. Chilgapsan (561m) is Chungnam's tallest peak, earning the nickname "Chungnam's Alps." Janggoksa Temple at its base dates to the Unified Silla period, and the summit offers panoramic views of Chungnam's inland mountains.

Alps Village is nationally famous for its winter ice fountain festival. In summer, it pairs well with the Cheongyang Red Pepper Festival.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Janggoksa Approach (approx. 8 km)

The mountain road to Janggoksa on Chilgapsan's western side features dense forest tunnels. Janggoksa uniquely has two main halls (upper and lower).

Section 2: Chilgapsan Loop Road (approx. 10 km)

Drive the loop road around Chilgapsan, where valleys and forests keep things cool even in summer.

Section 3: Alps Village (approx. 7 km)

Arrive at Alps Village for seasonal festivals — ice fountains in winter, water park in summer.
