Course Overview

Nonsan is famous for its strawberries and Gwanchoksa Temple with its Eunjin Maitreya statue. This route starts at Gwanchoksa, passes through Nonsan city, and loops around Tapjeongho Lake.

The Eunjin Maitreya at Gwanchoksa is a colossal 18.12-meter stone Maitreya Bodhisattva statue, a National Treasure from the Goryeo Dynasty. Driving through Nonsan's plains, spring brings strawberry greenhouses and autumn golden rice paddies filling the view.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Gwanchoksa Temple (approx. 5 km)

Walk up a short mountain path from the parking lot to meet the giant Eunjin Maitreya stone Buddha.

Section 2: Gwanchoksa to Nonsan City (approx. 10 km)

Cross the Nonsan plains into the city. Local specialties include Nonsan strawberries and Ganggyeong salted fish.

Section 3: Nonsan City to Tapjeongho Lake (approx. 10 km)

Enjoy leisurely time at Tapjeongho waterfront park overlooking the lake. Silver grass is beautiful in autumn.
