Course Overview

This course along Route 44 in Inje-gun offers fairy-tale landscapes created by the crystal-clear Naerin Stream and white birch forests. The approximately 38 km route runs from Inje-eup to the Wondae-ri Birch Forest.

The birch forest is most beautiful in winter, when 690,000 birch trees planted across 138 hectares glow white against the snow, resembling a Nordic forest scene. It is Gangwon's premier healing destination, attracting 400,000 visitors annually.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Inje-eup to Hapgangjeong (approx. 10 km)

Starting from Inje-eup, admire the confluence of Soyang River and Naerin Stream at Hapgangjeong.

Section 2: Hapgangjeong to Wondae-ri (approx. 18 km)

Drive along Route 44 following the Naerin Stream valley, with clear waters and unique rock formations.

Section 3: Wondae-ri to Birch Forest (approx. 10 km)

Climb mountain roads to the birch forest parking lot. The forest is a 50-80 minute walk from the parking area.

Driving Tips

  • Birch forest has free admission and parking
  • Entry until 2 PM (winter) / 3 PM (summer)
  • Winter visits require hiking boots and crampons
  • Naerin Stream is also a popular summer rafting destination
