Course Overview

This approximately 30 km coastal drive follows Route 7 from Sokcho to Yangyang. Starting from Yeonggeum Rock in Sokcho, the route connects Daepo Port, Seorak Beach, Yangyang's Hajodae, and Naksansa Temple. The endless East Sea unfolds on your right throughout the drive.

It doubles as a gourmet drive: enjoy fresh sashimi at Sokcho Fish Market, slurp mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) at Daepo Port, and take a coffee break at a surfing beach cafe in Yangyang.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Yeonggeum Rock to Daepo Port (approx. 5 km)

Start at Sokcho's sunrise spot, Yeonggeum Rock. Daepo Port is famous for its fresh sashimi and mulhoe.

Section 2: Daepo Port to Seorak Beach (approx. 10 km)

Ulsanbawi Rock of Seoraksan is visible in the distance. The route passes Sokcho Beach and Jangsahang along the coastline.

Section 3: Seorak Beach to Naksansa (approx. 15 km)

Entering Yangyang, surf-famous Jukdo Beach and Ingu Beach appear. Naksansa Temple at the end was founded by Master Uisang and offers stunning East Sea sunrise views from Uisangdae and Hongryeonam.

Driving Tips

  • Summer surf season (July-August) brings heavy traffic near Yangyang beaches
  • Visit Daepo Port before 11 AM to avoid long waits for mulhoe
  • Naksansa Temple admission: 3,000 KRW for adults
  • Driving south from Sokcho puts the sea on your right (recommended)
