Gyeongju Namsan, though only 494 m high, is an open-air museum with over 100 stone Buddhas and 80 stone pagodas. This approximately 15 km loop follows the outer road, stopping at major Buddhist heritage sites.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Poseokjeong to Samneung (approx. 5 km)

Visit Poseokjeong pavilion site and the three royal tombs set among pine forests.

Section 2: Samneung to Yongjangsa Site (approx. 5 km)

Drive along the western slopes encountering various stone Buddhas.

Section 3: Eastern Return (approx. 5 km)

Return via the eastern side, finishing at the Bulgok Rock-carved Buddha.

Driving Tips

  • Stone Buddha visits require trekking connections (10-30 min walks to each site)
  • Samneung pine forest is a popular photography spot
