Ssanggyesa is a representative Hwaeom sect temple nestled deep in Jirisan valley. Driving further up leads to Cheonghakdong, where residents live in traditional clothing.
Cheonghakdong, below Jirisan's Samshinbong, is a traditional living village where children study in hanbok at old-style schools. The narrow mountain access road rewards you with deep mountain tranquility.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Ssanggyesa Temple (approx. 5 km)
Tour Ssanggyesa's grounds including the National Treasure stele of Zen Master Jingam.
Section 2: Ssanggyesa to Cheonghakdong (approx. 15 km)
Climb mountain roads through Jirisan's deep forests. Narrow roads require caution.
