Course Overview
This approximately 22 km drive starts at Sunchang's Jangryu Village, famous for 600 years of traditional gochujang (red pepper paste) production, and ends at Gangcheonsan County Park, known as the 'Little Geumgangsan of Honam.'
At the village, experience traditional gochujang-making. Gangcheonsan features a thrilling suspension bridge above a valley surrounded by autumn foliage and dramatic cliff formations.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Sunchang Jangryu Village (approx. 5 km)
Over 300 households ferment traditional sauces in earthen jars. Taste and experience making gochujang, doenjang, and ganjang.
Section 2: Village to Gangcheonsan Approach (approx. 10 km)
A flat road along a tributary of the Seomjin River with pastoral scenery.
Section 3: Gangcheonsan Park (approx. 7 km)
A 20-minute walk from the parking lot leads to the 70 m suspension bridge with valley views and surrounding autumn colors.
Driving Tips
- Reserve village experiences in advance (10,000-15,000 KRW per person)
- The suspension bridge is most beautiful about an hour before sunset
- Autumn foliage weekends (late October to mid-November) are crowded
- Buy gochujang and pickled vegetables as souvenirs at Sunchang traditional market
