Course Overview

This 28 km drive follows Route 17 alongside the gentle Seomjin River. The Seomjingang Train Village, built on a decommissioned Jeolla Line section, offers steam train rides and rail biking along the riverside, making it especially popular with families.

The Rose Park features 30,000 roses of 1,004 varieties blooming in May, while the riverside stepping-stone village is famous as a drama filming location.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Gokseong Station to Train Village (approx. 5 km)

From Gokseong Station to the old station building (Registered Cultural Heritage No. 122) and the train village. The steam train ride along the river is the highlight.

Section 2: Train Village to Chimgok Rail Bike (approx. 10 km)

The 5.2 km rail bike course from Chimgok to Gajeong Station offers a romantic pedaling experience with mountains and river as backdrop.

Section 3: Rail Bike to Amnok Village (approx. 13 km)

Following Route 17 downstream along the Seomjin River through typical Namdo countryside with riverside villages and rice paddies.

Driving Tips

  • Check steam train schedule in advance and book ahead
  • Rail bike: 20,000 KRW for 2-seater, 30,000 KRW for 4-seater
  • Train village admission: 5,000 KRW for adults
  • Rose festival runs from mid-May to early June
