Course Overview

The Bukhansan Loop Drive is Seoul's most accessible mountain driving course. Starting from Ui-dong, the route follows the mountain's base toward Jeongneung before climbing the Bugak Skyway to Palgakjeong Pavilion, which offers a sweeping 360-degree panorama of Seoul.

Cherry blossoms line the route in spring and autumn brings a vivid foliage tunnel. From Palgakjeong, you can see Namsan Tower, the Han River, and Gwanak Mountain, making it equally popular as a night drive.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Ui-dong to Jeongneung (approx. 10 km)

Dense forest flanks both sides of the road, with cherry blossom petals falling in spring.

Section 2: Jeongneung to Bugak Skyway (approx. 10 km)

The route passes through Seongbuk-gu before entering the Bugak Skyway approach.

Section 3: Bugak Skyway to Palgakjeong (approx. 8 km)

The winding skyway climbs Bugak Mountain to the panoramic pavilion viewpoint.

Driving Tips

  • Bugak Skyway is closed from 11 PM to 5 AM
  • Palgakjeong parking is free but often full on weekends
  • Best in cherry blossom season (early-mid April) or autumn foliage (late Oct-early Nov)
  • Speed limit of 40 km/h is strictly enforced
