Course Overview
This drive explores the essence of Korean traditional garden culture. Soswaewon, a retreat garden created by Yang San-bo in mid-Joseon, is one of Korea's three great traditional gardens, representing the pinnacle of Korean landscape architecture in its perfect harmony of nature and construction.
Driving to Juknokwon, walk through green tunnels formed by 80,000 bamboo trees. Combined with Damyang's tteokgalbi and daetongbap, it's the perfect Damyang cultural journey.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Soswaewon (approx. 3 km)
Retreat garden with 48 traditional landscape elements. Gwangpunggak and Jewoldang are key structures.
Section 2: Soswaewon to Metasequoia Road (approx. 8 km)
Drive toward Damyang-eup to reach the famous Metasequoia-lined avenue.
Section 3: Metasequoia to Juknokwon (approx. 7 km)
Walk 8 themed bamboo forest trails at Juknokwon in downtown Damyang.
