Course Overview
Hangyeryeong Pass (920 m) on National Route 44 connects Inje and Yangyang through Seoraksan National Park. As the highest point accessible by car in Seoraksan, its summit is the first place in Korea to see autumn foliage.
The 30 km winding route offers views of both inner and outer Seoraksan as you cross from Inje to Yangyang.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Inje to Hangyeryeong Ascent (approx. 15 km)
Climbing toward the pass through deepening Seoraksan scenery and valleys. Autumn turns the deciduous trees lining the road into a blaze of color.
Section 2: Summit to Yangyang Descent (approx. 15 km)
Rest at the summit viewpoint, then descend toward Yangyang as the East Sea draws closer in a dramatic landscape transition from mountains to coast.
Driving Tips
- Peak foliage (mid-October) causes severe traffic congestion
