Course Overview
Hoengseong is Korea's premier Hanwoo (Korean beef) town. Hoengseong Hanwoo was selected for the APEC summit banquet and won the Presidential Award at the National Livestock Brand Competition.
This 28 km drive starts from Hoengseong Hanwoo Village, passes Cheongtaesan Natural Recreation Forest and Anheung Jjinppang Village, and ends at Hoengseong Lake Trail.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Hoengseong Hanwoo Village (approx. 5 km)
Start at Hanwoo restaurants near the livestock sales center. Grade 1++ sirloin, strip loin, and tenderloin grilled over charcoal are sublime. Hanwoo soup rice and beef tartare are also popular.
Section 2: Cheongtaesan Natural Recreation Forest (approx. 12 km)
After feasting, head to Cheongtaesan for a digestive walk through pine and fir forests. Summer visitors can enjoy valley water play.
Section 3: Anheung Jjinppang Village to Hoengseong Lake Trail (approx. 11 km)
Sample Anheung jjinppang (steamed buns) for dessert, then walk Section 5 of the Hoengseong Lake Trail with beautiful mountain reflections in the lake.
Driving Tips
- Hanwoo Village may have lunch wait times even on weekdays
- Hanwoo prices are approximately 30,000-50,000 won per serving (Grade 1++)
- Anheung jjinppang comes in red bean, kimchi, and vegetable varieties
- Hoengseong Hanwoo Festival is held every October
