Course Overview

Mokpo is the culinary capital of Namdo (South Jeolla). This course covers Mokpo's three iconic dishes: sebal-nakji (live baby octopus), hongeo-samhap (fermented skate with pork belly and aged kimchi), and minneo-hoe (croaker sashimi).

This 18 km drive from Mokpo Station loops through the city's food streets, Yudalsan Mountain, and Pyeonghwa Plaza.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Mokpo Station to Namgyo-dong Food Street (approx. 5 km)

Visit the sebal-nakji restaurants where live octopus writhes on your plate. Dip in sesame oil for an unforgettable chewy texture.

Section 2: Yudalsan to Waterfront (approx. 6 km)

Drive up Yudalsan for city and Dadohae views, then enjoy minneo sashimi at the waterfront restaurant row. Peak season is July-August.

Section 3: Pyeonghwa Plaza to Hongeo-samhap (approx. 7 km)

Watch the dancing ocean fountain at Pyeonghwa Plaza, then head to Mokpo's famous hongeo-samhap restaurants. The intense flavor of fermented skate divides opinions but deserves a try.
