Course Overview
The Gapyeong Jaraseom Auto Camping Drive is the most accessible camping-linked driving course near Seoul. Starting from Cheongpyeong Dam, the route follows the Bukhan River bank to Jaraseom Auto Campground. Jaraseom is a river island famous for the Gapyeong Jazz Festival, featuring wide lawns and riverside camping sites.
After camping, you can continue driving toward the Morning Calm Arboretum via Gapyeong's pine nut forest trail. Enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, water sports in summer, and autumn foliage with camping.
Section Highlights
Section 1: Cheongpyeong Dam to Jaraseom (approx. 15 km)
Drive along the Bukhan River bank past the dam, with mountains and river scenery on both sides.
Section 2: Jaraseom to Gapyeong Cafe Street (approx. 7 km)
After setting up camp, head to Gapyeong's cafe street for local bakeries and riverside cafes.
Section 3: Gapyeong to Jathyanggipureun Forest (approx. 10 km)
Head toward Chungnyeongsan for a phytoncide-rich pine nut forest drive.
Driving Tips
- Jaraseom Auto Campground requires advance booking (weekends sell out 3 weeks ahead)
- Check-in at 2 PM, check-out at 11 AM
- Watch for flooding during summer monsoon season
- Local specialties include Gapyeong dakgalbi and pine nut tofu
