Course Overview

Sagok-myeon in Uiseong is Korea's second-largest cornelian cherry producer after Gurye, with centuries-old trees scattered throughout the villages. In March, Hwajeonri and Tohyeonri turn brilliant yellow, offering a tranquil spring experience away from crowds.

This 20 km drive from Uiseong town loops through the Sagok-myeon sansuyu villages.

Section Highlights

Section 1: Uiseong Town to Sagok-myeon (approx. 12 km)

Country roads through the peaceful farming landscape typical of inland Gyeongbuk.

Section 2: Sagok-myeon Village Loop (approx. 8 km)

Touring Hwajeonri and Tohyeonri where sansuyu blossoms frame old stone walls and thatched roofs. Far fewer tourists than Gurye.

Driving Tips

  • Bloom period is mid-March to early April
  • Much less crowded than Gurye for a peaceful experience
  • Uiseong is famous for garlic; try garlic-themed dishes
